The night this site is drawn from cost more than a year of the top tier.
That is a statement about the size of model bills, not a promise about yours.
Two bars on one rule. The first is the model spend of the recorded night: $366.65 across 34 sessions and 416.9 million tokens. The second is twelve months of the top tier at nineteen dollars a person a month, which is $228. The comparison is a statement of scale and not a claim of saving: what your own agents cost depends on what you run.

Does this send my code anywhere?
Local mode keeps its database on your machine. In hosted mode, an enrolled device sends the fields allowed by its selected privacy tier to your organisation's cell. The security page explains both paths.
What happens when my licence expires?
You stop running it. The database is a file on your own disk, and export is in every tier.
Which platforms?
macOS, Windows and Linux. Node.js 20 or newer if you run it yourself.
Do I need an API key or an account?
Byte does not ask for a model-provider API key to monitor local history. A local licence activates the desktop product. Hosted organisation views use an account, and each native coding agent keeps its own authentication.
Will it slow my agents down?
Collection uses bounded handlers and background reconciliation. A failed collection request does not stop the agent. Byte shows capture gaps and connection state; configured checks and model work consume their own runtime.
Can I run it on my laptop and my desktop?
The licence is per person, not per machine.
Which coding-agent platforms are included?
Claude Code, Codex, OpenCode and Superset. Byte keeps the native agent, model vendor and hosting application separate, so one Codex session inside Superset is not counted twice.
Is there a trial?
Ask for one, and say how long you need.
How do I pay, and how do I stop?
Individual plans use Byte checkout and issue the licence after settlement. Team is arranged by enquiry and invoice. Contact us to change seats or stop at the end of the billing period.
What happens to my data if I stop paying?
Local records remain on your machine. Organisation data follows the retention and export settings chosen for that organisation.
Why is it this cheap?
Local collection uses the machine and records you already have. Briefs and summaries are computed from recorded facts, so Byte does not add background model calls to your bill.
Is the source available?
No, it is proprietary. What is open is the shape of it: the docs cover the schema, every route and every hook.
Can my company buy this for everybody?
